How character recognition works in 5CODE Recognition
Recognition gives every character a memory of the people they meet. This guide walks through the scan, the four cues, the reliability score, and what happens when someone hides their face.

The short version
In 5CODE Recognition, character recognition works through a scan: walk up to someone, press F3, and your character studies their voice, clothing, face and tattoos. The four cues add up to one reliability percentage; at 80% by default, your character knows that person. Meet them again behind a mask and you may not, and the server records what each character knew for your staff.
That is the whole idea of Recognition: a character remembers faces, not names. The rest of this guide goes through each part in the order a player meets it, down to what it works with.
The character recognition scan: four cues, one score
Voice, clothing, face and tattoos each fill their own bar and add up to one reliability ring. The HUD shows four cue badges and the ring. Blue is filling now; orange means covered.
Reading the ring
The ring is one percentage for the whole look. At 80% by default, your character knows that person. In the picture at the top of this page the ring reads 62%, under that line. Memorizing someone new plays a visible pose, so the other player can tell.
A few things change how a scan goes:
- Night, rain and fog slow the eyes down.
- A flashlight helps.
- The voice is never slowed.
- Someone you still remember is recognized with a quick look, in 2–3 seconds, instead of a full scan.
Disguises really work
A masked acquaintance is scanned like a stranger and saved as a separate memory. A full mask hides the whole face, so the face cue gives nothing. On the HUD the face badge turns orange with a cross: the face is covered and cannot be read.

Meet them again behind a mask and you may not.
Two more tools change what a scan finds. A voice changer feeds scans a fake voice. The face implant clinic gives a character a new face, a new name and a new voice: everybody forgets that character, who still remembers them all.
How long a memory lasts
Memories run out. How long one lasts depends on how well you saw the person: 5 days, 24 hours or 2 hours. A memory lasts 30 days when a hidden camera recorded it.
Hidden camera and paper reports
Recognition has a hidden camera, and what it records can be printed:
- The hidden camera scans silently, at twice the speed.
- The REC counter shows how much of this look the hidden camera has recorded. It is green from 50%, and the recording is printable from 50%.
- Print the recording as a paper report from the F3 menu.
- The report lists voice, face, clothing and tattoos, never a real name. A photo of the scene is added when photos are enabled on your server.
A magnetic scanner finds hidden cameras on people. The script's page shows a printed report.
What staff can see
On aim, damage, kill, cuff, rob or search, the server logs what the attacker's character knew. The in-game admin panel has a live pair view, lookup, a timeline, Discord export, a settings editor and clothing Auto-scan for EUP. Almost every setting is editable in game, each with a plain title and a tip.
What it works with
Recognition supports QBCore, Qbox, ESX Legacy and Standalone, and the framework is auto-detected. The table lists what else it supports: 35 entries in 5 areas.
| Area | Supported | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Inventories | ox_inventory, qs-inventory, qb-inventory v2, jaksam_inventory, tgiann-inventory, ak47_inventory, origen_inventory, codem-inventory, core_inventory, ESX default | 10 |
| Voice | pma-voice, SaltyChat, YaCA, Native Mumble | 4 |
| Appearance | illenium-appearance, 17mov Character System, rcore_clothing, qs-appearance, tgiann-clothing, fivem-appearance, qb-clothing, esx_skin | 8 |
| Ambulance | qbx_medical, qb-ambulancejob, esx_ambulancejob, wasabi_ambulance_v2, randol_medical, ars_ambulancejob | 6 |
| Police and MDT | qbx_police, qb-policejob, esx_policejob, wasabi_police_v2, lb-tablet, tk_mdt, redutzu-mdt | 7 |
Requirements
- FXServer build 7290 or newer
- OneSync (legacy or infinity)
oxmysql- MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.4+
In server.cfg that comes down to two lines before the script itself:
# Recognition needs OneSync (legacy or infinity) and oxmysql.
set onesync on
ensure oxmysql
# Start Recognition after oxmysql.
ensure 5code-recognitionThe full steps are in the install guide (opens in a new tab), and every supported resource is in the compatibility matrix (opens in a new tab). Both are part of the public docs: 81 pages for Recognition.
Before you install, Recognition requirements and supported frameworks goes through each requirement and what the optional resources unlock. And if your police department needs an armory as well, how to set up police loadouts per unit does the same for 5CODE Loadouts.
