First Test (5 minutes)
On this page9
Grab one friend, a second account or a staff member. Five minutes and you will have seen the whole loop: scan, memory, quick recognition, disguise, and the admin view.
Before you start
- Both of you on foot, outdoors, in daylight. Night, rain and fog make scans slower on purpose.
- Both of you within 5 metres, and you facing your friend (they may look anywhere, but their face is only learned while they look at you).
- Access to the server console, or a third person with
recognition.admin(see Installation step 7). The admin panel never shows a pair that includes your own character.
1. The menu
Walk up to your friend and face them.
- Press F3. A small menu opens on the left: Scan person to memory · Recognize · Camera recordings · Stop looking.
- Scan person to memory is already marked: press ENTER. A small orange arrow appears over your friend's head.
- If other people are standing around, the arrows over them are grey. ← and → switch between them, and SPACE picks up to three people at once.

Nothing on that menu or those arrows ever changes depending on whether you already know the person. That is deliberate: the screen must never leak what your character knows.
2. The scan
Press ENTER to start on the orange arrow.
- After about two seconds your character plays a thinking pose. The other player can see it, so they know they are being studied.
- The HUD in the top-right wakes up: four cue icons and a ring. A small ring with the % also sits above your friend's head.

| Cue | What fills it |
|---|---|
| Voice | seconds your friend actually talks. Have a conversation. |
| Clothing | just looking at them. |
| Face | looking at them, as long as their face is not covered. |
| Tattoo | visible tattoos only: short sleeves, bare skin, and so on. |
The ring is the reliability %. With the default weights, any two of voice, clothing and face at 100 % give you 80: the act line.
Let it run. When it finishes you will see one of:
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Noted | New person, saved. You now have a memory of them. |
| Recognized | You already knew them, and you just confirmed it. |
| Not sure | You got something, but not enough to act on. |
| Too little seen | Below the save line. Nothing stored. |
The first time, it will say Noted.
3. The live result
Stay near them. For the next 10 minutes the HUD keeps showing their card and updates it live while they are around. Walk 20 metres away or break line of sight for half a minute and it ends.
Try to scan them again right away and you are asked to wait: after a full scan the
same pair has a 60-second cooldown (Config.Scan.PairCooldownSeconds).
4. The quick look
Wait a minute. Then press F3, move down to Recognize with the arrow keys, press ENTER, and ENTER again on the orange arrow.
- After 2–3 seconds the answer shows: Recognized with the line your character remembers them by. No pose, no full scan.
- On somebody you have never scanned, the same look ends with You don't know him, and nothing is saved.

5. The disguise
Now the interesting part.
- Your friend puts on a full mask (and ideally changes their top).
- Walk apart, come back, and scan them with Scan person to memory.
What you should see:
- The result is Noted, not Recognized, with a new line such as "Met a masked guy on Vinewood Blvd in the afternoon".
- Your original memory of them is untouched.
- You now hold a second memory: the disguised look.
That is the whole point of the script. Your character did not recognize them, and nothing on the HUD hinted that they might be someone you know.
Now scan them once more with the mask on, and have them take it off while the scan runs. It ends as Recognized, and the disguise memory folds back into the real one.
6. Check it as staff
The quickest check is the server console. It prints what each of you remembers about the other:
recognition:check <yourId> <friendId>For the full picture, a third staff member opens the pair view in game:
/recognition:admin <yourId> <friendId>The panel opens on the pair. You should see:
- Both directions: what you know about them and what they know about you. They are never the same number.
- For each side, a % ring, the four cue bars, the best memory, the familiarity level and the last scan with its result.
- Small chips that tell you more, for example CAMERA for a hidden-camera scan or DISGUISE for a memory learned behind a mask.
- Three tabs: Trend (how the number moved over time), Memories (each memory, where it came from and how long it lasts) and Proofs.
7. Optional: the mirror
Either of you can run:
/recognition:mirrorIt shows how recognizable you are right now: which cues are readable, which are hidden, and the highest reliability someone could reach on you at this moment. It is the fastest way to check whether a mask, a helmet or a pair of gloves is doing what you think it is doing.
If something did not work
| Symptom | Look at |
|---|---|
| F3 does nothing, or no arrow | Is Config.StartMode 'menu', and is F3 still bound (Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM → Recognition: open the menu)? Are you both on foot, within 5 m, you facing them (within 90°), on the same floor? Config.Scan.Distance, AngleBands, OnFootOnly. |
| Number keys do nothing in the menu | That is correct. Use the arrow keys and ENTER. |
| Voice cue never moves | Your voice system. Check the voice= part of the boot Integrations line and Voice Systems. |
| Everything is very slow | Night, rain or fog. The HUD prints a small line, for example Slower: dark, while it happens. |
| Tattoo cue stuck at 0 | Nothing is visible. Long sleeves hide arm tattoos, and a shirt hides the chest and back. |
| "Not sure" every time | The act line is Config.Scoring.ActThreshold (80). Two full cues reach exactly that; one does not. |
| Admin panel refuses to open | ACE. add_ace group.admin recognition.admin allow, and you are in group.admin. |
| Panel says This is you | You opened a pair with your own character. See step 6. |
