Bans

What a banned player reads, and whether a ban also blocks the player's PC. Both keys are in config.lua.

The ban text

A player with a ban that has an end date reads this when they try to join:

  • The first two lines are Config.BanMessage.
  • The panel adds the "Banned until" line by itself. A permanent ban has no such line. Its text is in the locale file. See Localization.
  • A ban without a reason shows "No reason given".
  • The date and time come from the clock of your database.

With true:

  • A ban made while the player is online knows the PC at once.
  • A ban made while the player is offline does not know the PC yet. It learns the PC at the player's next try to join with the banned account.
  • When a banned PC is refused, staff find a line with the tag /banevade on the Logs page. The server console prints [5code-adminpanel] Refused <name>: this PC is banned (ban #12). Somebody who keeps trying does not fill the log.
  • Revoking the ban, or the end of its time, frees the account and the PC.

Several players on one PC

Brothers and sisters, flatmates, an internet cafe: with true, a ban of one of them locks out everybody who plays on that PC. They read the ban text of the banned player.

Let the others play againRevoke the ban on the Bans page. The banned player can then join again too.
Never block by PCSet Config.BanHardware = false and restart the resource. Bans then hold by account only.
